  • Batch importing QTs = lots of problems. Please help.

    ‘Ello,
I’m onlining a documentary that was cut elsewhere. I was given about 100 QT files of pans across newspaper headlines and photographs etc. When I try to Batch Import them into the Avid, I get a whole lot of highly noticeable distortion, this sort of venetian blind-looking of thing.
My editor (I’m the assistant, he’s on vacation far away from phones and email) thought that closing all sequences and bins not in use would give Avid more memory/processing power to import correctly. I even broke that large QT bin down into many smaller ones with only 4 QTs in each. Even when I only import one at a time, I still get this distortion.
Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have some other trick for me to attempt? Please help.

    Thanks in advance,
    MJA

What resolution are you importing them at? What system are you one? What are your system specs? What CODEC did the QT’s come in?

I’m on an Avid Media Composer 10.6 and I did finally get all the QTs in at full resolution, but now I can’t yet figure out how to relink them. I’m quite used to relinking in Final Cut and I thought the Relink option in Avid’s clip menu would take care of it. It did not. I’m going to keep ploughing through untill I get it right. But if any of you Creative Cattle Ranchers have a helpful hint or four, I’d be much obliged.

i’m always importing low res qt’s, the blind effect happens a lot. it does sometimes move so you might want to try and import them a couple of times.
