    Hi Alex!

Avid is a bit different than most NLE’s in regards to FX. Basically what you need to do is Alt-drag additional FX onto a clip that you want to add FX to. They will apply in the order that you put them on, and you can “step in” to the FX clip just as if it were a nested (Avid calls it “collapsed”) clip. In doing this you can tweak the settings of each individual FX. Be careful that you apply them in the correct order, as that is harder to change later on.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Todd…

I spent a couple of hours on it yesterday and think I got the hang of it.

    Thanks for that.

    Also…

If you “collapse” something, you can step into it, but NOT un collpase it right?

    Thanks…

Yes, that is correct. Once collapsed, I think there may be a work-around to “uncollapse”, but it wouldn’t be pretty. Would probably consist of some copy/paste action, but I’ve given up when thinking about doing that and just rebuilt it. Good luck!
