    Hi everyone,

I’m a FinalCut Pro editor and I’m having trouble adjusting to the Avid lifestyle.

I have a project that I want to move from one computer and Xpress DV to another computer and Xpress Pro. It’s still in the middle of editing so I don’t want to consolidate the clips, I want to just move the entire project, unused clips and all.

This computer is used by several people so the OMFI folder is full of things from various projects, so I can’t just copy that entire folder. I thought maybe selecting everything in my bin and then using the reveal file, but that will only work one clip at a time.

Any suggestions? I know there has to be an easy way to move a whole project from one computer to another… right?

    Hi,

The easiest way to do what you’re talking about is to use MediaMover. You can download a fully-functional 30-day trial here: https://www.randomvideo.com/

If you move Avid projects a lot you’ll find the 150 bucks money well spent.

Otherwise you could use the media tool to identify all media for the project, or the console command “rename mediafiles” (I can’t quite remember the exact command) and select all the files related to the project. This is entering scary territory, especially if multiple projects are sharing media. I’d check media mover out.

    Hope this helps
