  I hope someone can help me with this.
  I filmed a commercial for a furniture house. It is a long single shot from a dolly. The camera films the salesman and customer on the left of the track, then pans around slowly to the right. As soon as the actors are out of frame, they run around behind the camera to the next set, and are sitting in consultation by the time the camera pans around 180

  I have encounted the same issue trying to acheive this effect. Anyone out there have any ideas?

  This may not really help your situation, but if you are absolutely determined to complete that effect, it would be fairly easy in AFX or FCP.
