Is avid applying any sort of compression to dv footage thats imported using this codec?
Is it degrading the image? I thought this was a DV in DV out scenario, was I wrong?
Would I get a better image if I imported the DV at 1:1 using an avid symphony??

Any quick feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

DV25 4:1:1 is the DV standard for the NTSC version of DV and not a limtation of Avid. For PAL countries it is 4:2:0.

    There is no degradation.

…Unless you are applying all kids of effects to the video, in which it is recompressed. It’s minor, but it’s there. DV is naturally a compressed format, so 1:1 will ALWAYS be better (much better, IMHO).
