  • Cancelling Render in XpressPro on WindowsXP

Posted by Mcqueen on April 22, 2005 at 10:12 pm

I don’t know how many times, having made a mistake, I have had to wait until an effect reders before i can correct it. Although it says on the progress box “Type Contr+ to cancel” it will not stop the render until complete.
Has anyone been able to cancel a render successfully?
    Any help appreciated. Thank you,
    McQueen.

It’s “CTRL .” It’s hard to see but it is saying hold down Control + . which means Control Key while hitting the the period “.” key. Not “Control +”

It would make more sense to just hit the ESC key…

Thanks Michael. I must have lost day’s over the last couple of years waiting for stuff to render knowing I had made a mistake and would have to do it all over again.

On looking at it closely I can see quite clearly the “.” or period. I of course in my stupidity have been pressing down “Ctrl” and “+” and been getting nowhere.

    Thanks again Michael.

On the render progress window, it says “To Cancel Render, Press Control +.”. Maybe that’s a setting somewhere? Console?

One thing I always do after I’ve started a render is to do a ‘Control + T’. You get a visual display of the time spent as well as an estimate of the total time of the render. I’m reading Kafka’s “The Castle” for the fourth time 😉

Thanks Valerie. Michael P sussed the problem for me. The render dialogue box says “Ctrl + .” not as I read “Ctrl + ” I have wasted hours no days waiting on renders to complete knowing that I would have to re-do them as I had made a mistake. Thanks for your trouble.
    McQueen.
