I’m trying to make white titles slide in on to screen on a black background. I made the titles in photoshop and I want them to have a transparent background since the letters will be overlapping other items. How do I do that? Do I import them in some special way?

Save graphics in Photoshop as PSD with transparent background> import into Avid> click options on import dialog box> and under Alpha, select “invert existing”, this should import PSD without background as a matte key. There may be a sexier way to do this, but this is how I do it and it works for me. Good luck.
