Hey there, I am new to Avid and really need your help!! I downloaded the “Calvin” tutorial from the Avid website to practice, and when I imported the files the audio came out fine but the video seemed to be frozen! Well, not really – if I move the curser back and forth on the raw material it actually moves in FF / rewind motion. But when I play it normally it’s just frozen for the duration of the frame. What am I doing wrong here? If anyone has any idea please please help me!! Thanks so much!

Does your source / record monitor flash? You may have a window just slightly on one of your monitors.

No – the problem is that my frames aren’t changing and so the source material doesn’t play as video. Meaning, if I press “play”, the time code at the top of the source material window on the composer appears as such (for example): 01:12:18:–. The seconds and minutes change, but there is no frame indication. However, if I move the curser manually than it will give me the precise frame number. Any ideas? Thanks so much!!

What’s your OS, Avid version and Quicktime version?

I would download again. Might be a corrupt or damaged file.

it is normal for frames not to be displayed on playback in realtime(at least mine don’t either). Are you sure your Source/Record Window is not overlapping your timeline window or vice versa? because this would cause video not to playback.
