  Having problem digitizing with Avid

  Hello,

  I’m using Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.0,

  I have problem digitizing with Avid using a firewall connection,
  my computer does recognize the deck, and when I try to play the tape using Avid’s capture controls it DOES play the tape but only in the camera’s viewfinder – the problem is that I can’t see anything in the Avid capturing window.
  Also (I don’t know if thats connected somehow) when I click on the A1\A2 Channel Sections in order to digitize sound, it tells me:

  Exception: ADM_DIO_ERROR_OCCURRED, DIOerr:Excepted DV25 NTSC but recieved DV25 PAL (PMDIORecieveFrameComplereMsg::MessageRecieved)

  Is there something I can do?
  I’m totally new to this editing software (currently editing with Pinnacle’s Liquid)..

  I don’t have experience with Xpro HD but here are some possibilities. For one, it’s always preferable to digitize from a deck rather than the camera. 2.Sometimes the capture window is a little screwy and doesn’t show the video. You need to fiddle with things sometimes, like click on the window, toggle the video track off/on, sometimes you need to come out of capture and then come back in.
  3. Make sure you video input selector is set to the right input. Have you tried to capture a clip anyway to see if it’s getting into the Avid even though you are not seeing it in the monitor?

  As for the audio, the only thing that comes to mind is what type of project did you set up for, NTSE or PAL? Maybe you have PAL tapes and selected NTSC for your project and not PAL.

  Hey

  Thanks for the respond,
  I tried you suggestions and it worked, I tried digitizing something without being able to watch it in the capture screen, and after digizing I was able to watch it in timeline with sound, so that the problem now is only that I cannot see what I’m digitizing while digitizing. (I can hear it though..)
