  OUTPUTTING

  So, I’m learning how to do a digital cut – just for future reference – in case I need to ever do one for someone else.

  In the book I have it says I should black or stripe the tape first. I understand what this means but I’m not sure how to do it. I have a DSR-11 and I can’t find how to do it in the manual. Is the system of blacking a tape wildly different on every deck?

  Any advice would be appreciated

  No. The basic answer is to hit record / play. Some decks will allow you to start time code at a specific number. For instance, we start our master tapes at 58:30 – 30 seconds of bars and tone, 15 seconds of slate and 15 seconds of black and the show starts at one hour. But everybody does it different.

  You can’t sart the TC at a specific point on the DSR-11.

  I’ll borrow a friend’s deck to practice striping.

  Part 2 or the question is: Is there away outputting my edited sequence/show with visible TC?

  I’m using Avid Xpress Pro 5.+

  I can’t seem to find a way of doing it. It there a plug-in that I need to get?
