Making a countdown timer
Posted by Chris Lowry on February 24, 2010 at 5:37 pmHi there.
Trying to make a clock that counts down from 60 seconds to 0. Displaying it exactly like the 60, 59 ,58, etc.
How do I do this. I’ve played with Effect>Text>Number, but I don’t get it.
Anyone wanna give me a clue?
Bless,

Try this-Apply the number effect to a solid. Set your decimal places to 0.
Set a keyframe on the value offset property. Set it to 60. Move forward in time and
set a keyframe to your value offset property. Set it to 0-Andy

February 24, 2010 at 6:18 pmExcellent, I understand: but how do I create a keyframe? I have the layer selected, and the numbers part of the layer selected, but when i go to Animation>Add keyframe its greyed out.
See the screenshot here: https://www.uploadscreenshot.com/image/50574/7846877
Also, how do I export the finished file so that Premiere can import it? I’m gong to want to place the clock over other stuff, so how do I alpha channel the black bg?
Thanks!

February 24, 2010 at 7:11 pmHi Chris,
One way to make a keyframe is by clicking on the stopwatch of the property you want to animate.
Then when you adjust the value of the property a keyframe will be created. If you render to the “lossless with Alpha” preset in your render Q it will create an
alpha channel were there is no image.I would recommend taking a few moments with some beginner tutorials.
Here are some good ones-

February 24, 2010 at 11:09 pmYes I had searched several times, but people tend to assume you know as much as they do and miss crucial steps that seem obvious to them. I know to create a keyframe, what I don\’t know is why its greyed out?
Any idea?
