  • Are there restrictions to exporting FBX?

Posted by Dan Jacobsen on April 25, 2013 at 9:39 am

    Hi there,

I’m looking at different ways to export Invigorator objects to another app.

I have a simple group of objects that are lit and coloured.

In the basic AE Effects Controls menu, in the ‘Objext’ pull down menu I am selecting Export 3D objects.

Selecting .obj here works for me. But if I select .fbx nothing happens. The window closes as if it has worked, there is no error message but no file on the desktop.

Do I have to something to define it as a scene? or am i doing something else wrong?

    Cheers

    Hi Dan,

If you are exporting an object out of our plug-ins, we only support .zxo, .obj, .3ds, .lwo, .fac, .c4d, or .dxf file formats. Which plug-in and what version of the plug-in are you currently working with?

    Best,
    Edward

    Hi there,

    It’s 3D Invigorator Pro v5.0.8 running on AE CS5.

The options I’m getting on export are zxo, fbx, obj, 3ds, lwo, fac, c4d, dxf.

Only fbx, obj and 3ds are supported in Flame.

    Hi Dan,

I would recommend using the .obj format. It’s the format that usually works best for our program. Keep in mind that lighting does not get exported. So you will need to set that up in Flame.

    Best,
    Edward

Thanks. obj is working for me so I’ll stick with that.

    Cheers
