  • Mixing AE 3D box with Invigorator?

Posted by Randy Egan on October 26, 2011 at 12:12 am

Does anyone know if you can mix a 3D box created in After Effects and a ribbon I’ve imported as an OBJ through Invigorator? Do each of these 3D workflows play nicely with each other? What I am noticing is that the ribbon is not respecting the layering of the 3D box and is always over top of it! Am I a missing something? A check box in invigorator?

    Thanks in advance.

I’ll recommend you to work all inside the plug-in. If you have InvigoratorPRO you can import the 3D object. Create a box inside it’s easy and if you do that you can interact in real 3D space with all the objects.

Basically, as Invigorator works in a 2D layer, your interaction with other 3D layers will depend on the layer order, not the 3D space.

The only workaround would be to mix layers, as you’ll do it in Photoshop or Illustrator to fake the in-front and behind the object.

    I hope this helps
