Shadow in ProAnimator?
Posted by Nate Whited on January 3, 2008 at 7:43 pmIs there any way to get my ProAnimator to show a shadow of the objects/text I am creating?

January 3, 2008 at 8:44 pmYes, Just switch to light mode (Sun button), select the light you want and check the “Shadow Casting” box. Be aware though that Shadows will slow down your renders especially if you increase the shadow softness and shadow quality that is located in the User Prefs menu.

January 3, 2008 at 9:15 pmOkay, I see the box you’re talking about, I lifted my text up off the “floor’, adjusted the lights to be directly overhead, turned the intensity of the light up, increased the darkness of the shadow….still no shadow. I’m just playing around here trying to see what it will and will not do and so far it will not do a shadow.

January 3, 2008 at 9:43 pmNate, are you trying to cast shadows on a AE layer? If so this doesn’t work.
Your plane needs to reside inside of Invigorator/ProAnimator.
Does this help?

January 3, 2008 at 11:02 pmHi,
I just had a look at your project. You couldn’t see any shadows as you didn’t have an object you could cast shadows on in your project.
The grid is not an object and can’t receive shadows. You need to create a primitive and change it from the default sphere to a plane. You then rotate your plane to 90 degrees and place it bellow your text.

January 4, 2008 at 2:59 pmSorry, I don’t mean to sound dense, but I can’t find any information regarding this in the manual…how do you change the sphere to a plane???

January 4, 2008 at 7:39 pm-Select your object (Sphere)
-Click on the Object tab. You will find a menu that says “Sphere”. When you open this menu you will find all the primitives listed.Salut,
