  cd reflection map

  Hey all,

  I’m trying to create the look of a cd that rotates on its axis in invigorator and has a rainbow like reflection map.
  I’ve tried creating a rainbow map and applying a radial blur and polar distortion effect, precomping it and using it as a layermap for reflection but it doesn’t quite seem to have the level of realism I’m after.

  Does anyone have any ideas on how to achieve something like this within Invigorator/Ae?

  Hi Ben,

  Using a precomp as a layermap is a smart idea – it gives you lots of control to animate the behavior of the reflection. Spending time to build in realism is key.

  I would also add some very small glints and glows that enhance the highlights as the disk spins. A little of this will do a lot.
