  I need to make some 3D text…

  …in a hurry. What is my best route? Can I do it in AE itself or do I have to use Zaxwerks which I have never touched yet?

  You can’t make 3D text directly in AE. There are a few plugins but 3D Invigorator is the best choice in my opinion. The install disk comes with a 30 minute tutorial that will have you up and running quickly.
