  3D Globe Revisited

  I have been modelling a a 3D globe with the landmasses layer mapped onto a sphere and the transparency of the globe itself turned down but am not crazy about my results. Was wondering if anyone could suggest how to achieve the globe on Zaxwerks Gallery site https://zaxwerks.com/2004/gallery.html (Six rows down, 4th from the right) it says GLOBE with the “O” being a globe. What I like about this is that the land mass appears to be a 3D Layer wrapped around a sphere as opposed to just a layer mapped to a sphere.

  Thanks for any ideas.
