  • Viewing Shadows Scene Preview Window

Is this “test” option a Mac only thing?
I see no way to view shadows in the Scene Preview window here using Windows.
Also, I think it would be good to be able to update the edits made in the Scene Preview Window
to the Invigorator Set Up Window, since all the Scene Preview edits are now lost when you hit the update button.
While I’m at it, I think being able to resize the Scene Preview window would be kind of nice too,
otherwise you have to wait for two updates to see a larger view, one in the Scene Preview window and the other in the comp window.
Otherwise, you could disable the comp window (Caps Lock) while viewing the larger scene view, needing only one update.

If I’m not mistaking, I think if you hold the “CTRL” key you will see the “test” button appear. Click that and you will see the entire scene as it will appear rendered.

Thanks, Marcelo, but I don’t see a test button when holding down the CTRL key.

Hmmm.. That is strange. What version are you using? I think that works on both versions though. I’m on a PC. You might want to give them a call. They are awesome when it comes to customer support! They have an 800 number on their site.

I’m on a PC as well.
Where in the interface does the TEST button show up?
BTW, do any shadows show up at all in the SET UP dialog?
I am printing the PDF manual now.

    Thanks again, Marcelo.

I have not played with Shadows much, but from what I understand, they should show up in the set up window. Just make sure you are in the scene preview (radio button at the top) and hold down the CTRL key. When you do, the “OK” button that you usually click to get out of the Setup window, should turn into a “Test” button.

I hope this helps. I don’t have the Invigorator in front of me now, but I will check it out tonight and post here my findings re: Shadows.

    Cheers!

Uh, yeah, ok, I have it now.
I was looking for the operation to work in the Scene PREVIEW window.
    Sorry, a novice’s mistake.

    Thanks Marcelo.

    🙂

Hey! I’m a newbie myself…so no worries. Anyhow, I just tried adding a shadow to my 3D text and when I hit “test” in the scene preview, the shadow comes up. Just make sure you have selected Shadow Casting in the light setup.

    CHeers!

    Yep, got it now.
If I’m going to have objects, I most always am going to want shadows.
