Shiny steel.
I was tearing down an incomplete Tektronix oscilloscope when I ran across screws and chassis equally shiny. I now realized that I was looking for the first time at stainless steel hardware on a stainless steel chassis. Attempts to budge the screws revealed them to all be frozen in spite of the shine. Fragile tubes had been removed but a tap of hammer and pin continued to produce no results. So I dowsed all the joints in water then brought in hammer and pin. Screws came loose easily. For stainless steel try water. Fred Jodry
