I shoot with a JVC GY-HD200. I have been shooting in 720p30 (actually p29.97, but to keep things simple I will use JVC’s nominal p30 designation). A recent project completed with Final Cut Pro Studio yielded a widescreen DVD, that when viewed on a 50 inch plasma monitor, looks fabulous. In fact, it looks better than the BBC’s Planet Earth DVDs in terms of perceived image resolution. My work now requires me to capture Apple Prores 422 files while videotaping and the camera provides component 4:2:2 720p60 (actually p59.94) video output. It is interesting to note that this camera is natively a 720p60 camera. This output is only offered as p60, not p30. The problem is that the resulting DVD from this p60 original video looks terrible by any standard or comparison when viewed on the 50 inch plasma monitor. I have searched the forums exhaustively for a way to get the same fabulous DVD quality with p60 as I can with p30 original video. I am interested in hearing from someone who gets the same high quality DVD, as I have described here, whether originating as p60 or p30.
