    Hi,

    Our 700 is set to 1280X720 60p.

We know that it is XDCAM EX when imported into Final Cut Pro. We want to find out if XDCAM HD422 is an option to switch to in the camera, or if it is available or even necessary.

Can we switch from EX to 422?

Is EX higher or lower quality than 422?

    Thanks

XDCam EX is 4:2:0 35mps. XDCam HD is 4:2:2 at 50 mps. XDCam HD is not an option on JVC, only higher-end Sony models. FCP supports both co-decs and you will see them listed in drop down menus.

The HD is a higher quality than EX, obviously.

Is it necessary? Depends on client / technical requirements. EX is better then HDV and not as good as DVCPRO HD 100.
