After using my JVC HD-110U for a little over a year, I would like to begin recording in non-tape media. I’m familiar with the DTE DR-HD100 and other hard-drive type units, but I also see advertised units like a Grass Valley firewire system that records to SD cards. I also noticed it seems hard to find the FireStore units for this JVC model now.

My questions are: What is the most affordable way to capture without tape? Are these after-market firewire systems, like the Grass Valley, adaptable to my camera? What is the best way to use these while preserving the best quality?

I would greatly appreciate any guidance from those of you experienced in using these systems.

    Thank you!
