    Help.

I did a shoot last night on the JVC GY-HM700 camera. We just started using this camera since Tuesday and everything seem to be okay. For one of the cards we downloaded last night, we tried to open the file in Final Cut Pro, Quicktime, and also VLC and in all three programs the file would not open.

It is very important footage. The QT file is about 2.7 GB. I’ve been searching and there is someone in Spain that can repair corrupted QT, but I am wondering if there are better solutions:

Here are the messages that I get from each of the application:

FCP – “the file is unrecognizable.”

QT – “The file is not a movie file.”

VLC – “mp4:MP4 plugin discarded (no moov box)

I’m really upset that we are going through this problem as this is the first time to use this sort of workflow with the JVC camera.

    Please advise quickly.

Have you run any updates to QT and FCP since you got the camera? You may need to do that in order to get the proper codec to actually read the QT files. I ran into the same issue on one system at work that hadn’t been updated in some time.
