  Slow Motion

  Anyone have any suggestions for the best possible results for slow motion video if your camera can’t under/over crank? i.e. combination of shutter speed frame rate combo. I have an HD-110 that shoots 30p/60i . I’ve heard people say shooting in 60i will make for smoother slowmo but isn’t that practically the same as 30p which is pretty close to 24p or am I missing the point all together. More frames/second + faster shutter = smoother slow motion.?

  if you really despise shooting in SD at 60p than yes 60i in hdv would be your next best bet although it still won’t be the same as 60p. Just try it out and you’ll know when you see it.

  I’ve looked into shooting 60p with the HD110 and all I found was some sketchy information about using the composite out and or shooting in HDV SD60p/DV, which FCP does not support.
  I guess the best answer is to get a new camera..

  if all you’re using 60p for is slow motion then open it with cinema tools and conform to 23.98fps and then import that file to your 24p fcp sequence.
