Recording uncompressed HD-SDI from GY-HD250
Hi all. I have two JVC GY-HD250 cameras and I wanted to find out if anyone has tried recording directly to disk using the HD-SDI of the JVC GY-HD250. I have heard about some new boxes by the companies below and wondered if anyone has tried this. One of the boxes indicates that you can feed two HD-SDI sources and record simultaneously. That would be awesome to use in a studio/remote location shoot when using both cameras. If you know of another product that does this please let me know. I don’t know yet what these boxes cost but I am particularly interested in the Codex Digital one. Any feedback is most appreciated.

Randy- I’m sure the cameras will funtion as promised but your post pretty much refers to the other devices. I bet you would have a better response from the Hi end HD forum where they mostly deal with HD SDI.
Just a suggestion.

Good point J. I’m obviously looking for someone that has had experience recording with the JVC HD-SDI out though. Just curious if there were any issues, if they were pleased, etc. Finding the right device to then record to will be an issue and I will post that question in the HD forum as you suggested. Thanks.

I saw the Wafian in action and REALLY want one. It was sweet, taking PRE HDV compression footage directly into the cineform intermediary. Yes, it looks like the perfect recorder for a dual cam shoot. I use Vegas Pro v8b and the Cineform files edit like DV.
