    i have an illustrator image of a country map showing its states. is there a nice simple way of showing some states in different color.

    without knowing what the ai file looks like, you may be able to use the paint bucket effect to ‘fill’ certain states.

    when applied to the layer, the effect will allow you to posiition a fill point and set how the area to fill will be selected (fill selector), ie, color, alpha, etc. and the tolerance for such areas… and of course, you can set the color to fill. you could apply multiple paint bucket effects with various colors and fill points.

    I dont want to sound overly simplistic here, but wouldnt changing the color in ILLUSTRATOR be the easier way to go? Or cant you for some reason…..
