  • Adjusting instrument levels of stereo recording in post

I have a stereo recording of a band. It’s recorded live. It doesn’t sound bad, but the levels between the two guitars
are off. One is louder than the other. Is there any software that might help improve the balance? If not, is there any
way to reduce the level of the louder guitar without making the recording sound worse? I tried using a limiter, but it only helped slightly.

    Thanks.

Hello Bob and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

There is a software that I have heard about and tried a bit that’s supposed to allow you to rebalance mixed tracks, but my experiments with it were not as good as I expected. Maybe operator error.

    It’s called Audionamix. https://audionamix.com/

What does it sound like in mono? Are the two guitars panned apart?

Are the two guitars playing at the same time?

Hello Ty, thanks for your reply. I’ll check it out. To answer your questions: I have not listened to it in mono.
The guitars are slightly panned L&R. Sometimes they play separately and sometimes together.

    Thanks very much.
