Looking for the lowest profile table top audio mixer/recorder I can find…
As the title suggests….
I’m after something with a similar set of functionality to the Zoom LiveTrak L-12 but not 70mm high. Ideally 50mm max height (or less but appreciate that’s really pushing my luck)
Is that completely out of the realms of possibility? It’s to fit in a specific space in a touring case.
I’d like at least 6 (8 great, any more is overkill but fine…) XLR/TRS inputs. I’d like to be able to record each channel at full volume. I’d like to be able to mix a selection of those channels into a master mix (so for example I’d record a backup of all channels at correct volume but also mix a version with some channels faded right down and some channels faded up). I’d like to be able to record that mixed master. I’d like to be able to send that master out into a camera (Sony FS7/Sony FS5). That’s about it (!) Oh and manual faders ideally with clear LCD or LED etc (I guess LCD) showing levels for each channel and for the master.
The Zoom L12 seems like it does all that and more and would be perfect but for the 70mm height.
Am I asking too much? (I usually am) Do any audio heads know where I might find such a golden fleece of a low profile mixer recorder?
I’ve thought of getting a 1RU high unit a bit like the Denon DN-312X but can’t find one with a recorder built in. Also ergonomically having the XLRs at the back would be a bit of a problem for my use-case. Furthermore I’d prefer a flat table-top style unit rather than one that takes up valuable rack space. I’ve also thought of getting the mixing desk first and figuring out the case afterwards but I’m ‘THIS’ close to getting what I need in a single case which I’d prefer to carry around on jobs (livestreaming events) rather than carry multiple cases. The two rack units in the case are currently full which leaves the space on top where a laptop is designed to fit.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
