I’m a newbie working with text in AE 5.5. I have some text over video footage and I want the text itself to have a transfer mode (multiply) applied to it. Seems that AE reads the text as an effect on the footage layer and won’t accept a transfer mode. Any suggestions re: how to create a transfer mode ON the text itself?
    thanks-

    Here’s what I did:

    1. add footage to comp.
    2. create new solid above the footage layer.
    3. Apply basic text to solid, with “composite on original” not selected. (You can do the same with the Path Text effect.)
    4. Make the Modes panel visible (F4).
    5. Set the mode for the solid to “Multiply”.

    Works for me …
