  • Timecode Time-Of-Day Drift?

    Greetings,

I have a question regrading timecode. I cannot remember what piece of gear I was using when I saw this (ether the Sounddevices 633 or possibly the Canon EOS C300 camera) but, as I was setting it up to run timecode at 23.98p, using freerun as time-of-day, I got a message saying something to the effect of ‘When using clock or time-of-day mode, timecode will drift at 23.98p’. I may not have that exactly right but, I’ve seen this message twice so far. So if use the 24hr mode on my 633 at this frame rate, will there be drift, or am I missing something.

    Any advice is most appreciated!

    Best,

    DCJ

Put a jammed sync box on the camera so you’re not depending on the cameras internal TC system..

    23.976 is a non-drop TC format.
Thus, 24 hours worth of TC is NOT 24 hours on the wall clock.
I think that’s what the messages are about.
