    Hi professionals,

    I am on a shoot here in Japan and I rented Sigma SS302Rex.

    On its power selection there’s AB power. I’m using Lectrosonics receiver UCR201 and I had it on line. It was pretty quiet even with the gain up quite a bit. I was playing around to figure it out and when I switched to AB power, it boosted up the signal and sounded loud and clear. Of course the manual says I shouldn’t and I don’t want to damage the receiver. I don’t know why it sounds better though…

    Can someone explain me what is going on here?

    It seems possible that when you switched to AB power, it also switched from line-level input sensitivity, to MIC-LEVEL input sensitivity. That would appear to indicate that you have the wireless receiver set for mic-level output. I would investigate setting the wireless receiver for line-level output.

    T or (12v AB) powering [same thing] does and will blow things up….. been there done that.

    There should be NO reason to apply Phantom or T powering to a radio mic receiver……EVER.

    I didn’t find a way to change the receiver between LINE and MIC. Does anyone know how?

    Thank you. I am now setting it to line and try to deal with boosting gain up.

    On page 5, the manual says…
    “OUTPUT LEVEL ADJUST Convenient front panel controls allow adjusting the audio output in 1dB steps from -50 to +9 dBu.”
