  Audio sensitivity on Sony ex1

  Hi a question for any Sony ex1 users.
  What do you have your input sensitivity in the menu set to?

  I made some recordings this weekend and have a little flatlining on audio waveforms. Yet the audio level is low and the input level was not high. Seems there is an added sensitivity control and I’m wondering what people generally go for??

  Hello Peter,

  Just worked with an ex-1 and ex-3 last week. For some strange reason, Sony included a menu adjustment from -41 dBU to -10 dBu in 7-8 steps. I didn’t have a manual, but I found running with the XLRs switched to LINE wasn’t working and I had to shift to Mic level to get levels right without clipping.

  Why they added the sensitivity settings remains a mystery. My guess would be that you’d shift from -41 to -10 and try line level.

  Having said this, for those who may read this later, there are also input controls.
