  focusrite saffire pro 40 5.1 via toslink?

  hello Geniuses,

  RE -focusrite saffire pro 40 5.1 via toslink?

  Im a newbie.

  Setup for an exhibition

  I would like to link the optical out of a Mini mac to 5 active speakers to monitor 5.1 audio. Is there an easy way to do this?

  I found that the focusrite saffire pro 40 has 6 x trs outputs, would this work for 5 x active monitors and 1 x sub woofer.

  For workflow, with final cut pro X, I’m thinking of getting the focusrite saffire pro 40 to firewire to my macbook pro for exhibition space tweeking of 5.1 audio (effectivally 5 seperate voice channels and sub bass burnt to a dvd file).

  I believe the focusrite saffire pro 40 works for this?

  For the actual event, I need to run a video file and 5.1 embed (as array sync for two seperate screens will only sync proper with the audio embedded)

  Therefore will the focusrite interface work if I input from the optical out of a mini mac, into the toslink port and out of the 6 channels?

  Lastly, is there a better way to do this!>??!?!?!

  Anybody with input on this would be seriously appreciated.
