552 to PC. Again!
Posted by Aidan Clayton on July 30, 2012 at 9:57 pmHi all, first off, thanks for answering my previous dopey questions so quickly. I am now wanting to set up the 552 to the PC for Mic input to Audition CS6 through the 552. Which is the best way of getting the signal from the 552 to the PC?
Thanks,

July 31, 2012 at 12:16 amDoes your PC have a 3.5mm line input if so use the ‘tape out’ 3.5mm socket on the 552 to your PC. NOTE this socket has a fixed O/P level and can’t be adjusted to mic level [I’m assuming that because my SD442 is like that].
If not you might need to go from the TA3 or XLR sockets switched to mic level with custom made cables.
Or failing that there are lots of converters out there that will convert an analogue signal to USB that might be suitable. -

July 31, 2012 at 12:36 amHello Aiden,
Why not record on the 552 and transfer to the PC? I’m guessing the 552 has a better A/D converter than your PC.

That’s not a standard request, but start looking for whichever hardware box you want that’ll take a line input and convert it through USB or available firewire.
If mono is all you need, and the 552 has a balanced mono mic level output, get a Centrance Mic Port Pro.

Do you need two channel mono or stereo
