  • Need Recommendations For Wireless Lapel Microphone System For AG-DVX100B

Posted by Redford Givens on May 16, 2012 at 7:41 am

We want to use wireless lapel microphones for 2 or 3 speakers recording to AG-DVX100B.

Our last project used the camera microphone on the AG-DVX100B and everything worked OK qualitywise except when the subject got to the side of the mic.

We would like to find something suitable for interview recording with the subject moving around the set. We will only be doing voice.

We need something simple and under $500 if possible.

Hello Redford and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Sennheiser G3 and Audio Technica 1800 wireless mics are acceptable entry level gear.

Be advised that 2 mics is good, but three puts you in a situation where you need to begin thinking about a mixer because the camera only has two tracks. Combining three mics on to two tracks is always a compromise.

Can I use the camera mic and two external mics?

I hope there is nothing complicated about hooking up the wireless mics.

    Redford,

About the camera mic, no. You only have two tracks of audio. Putting more than one mic per channel is a bad idea.

About the wireless. Yes, they are somewhat complicated. Each wireless is like a small radio station and receiver.
