  “active side” of Countryman EMW

  I just bought a Countryman EMW and see references to mounting it with the “active side” in various positions.

  Problem is, both sides look the same to me. How do I determine the “active” side?

  Any info appreciated.

  Look carefully at the capsule. The back side has a shiney plastic finish. The active side has a very fine mesh screen. When mounting the EMW in a Countryman vampire clip place the active side towards the back of the clip. That gives a very slight presence boost that helps to reduce the chest resonence when you place the mic too far up on the talents body.
