i’m looking to get some speaker monitors for around a $100 bucks. B+H has the M-Audio Studiophile AV 30 for around $90.
i only have an aux input for my 2.26 mac pro. if i use the aux input rather than getting a sound card and using the rca inputs will there be any sound noise or sound loss? is this a good choice for $100 budget? not doing any recording and right now i’m using altec lansing BXR1120. i think they were around twenty bucks. what do you guys think about usb connected speakers?

    thanks

You have to feed the speakers from an output. Use the same connection point as the ones you’re replacing.

    Hi Jason,

I use The AV30s occasionally. The quality even with RCA and no interface is not too bad. Although you may get a better result by including a USB interface(Perhaps a Yamaha Audiogram 3)in your signal chain. Hope that helps.

    Thanks guys.
Just picked up the m-audio av 40’s for $75 brand new. And
They sound great. The rca to 1/8 adaptor works too, just what I was hoping.
