  Shure FP24/MixPre – Setting Limiter Threshold

  I purchased a Shure FP24, which I’m told is the same as a Sound Devices MixPre. Can someone explain how I setup the Limiter threshold adjustment? The manual indicates the thresholds are independently adjustable from +6 dBu to +18 dBu but there is no indicator/markings just one set screw for each channel.

  I bought this used so I’m not sure if it is set up correctly? Is there a procedure? How does this setting affect the Gain?

  Ty, Thank you for the link to the Owners manual. Actually I already have that, and have read it thoroughly, and yes it does explain what the switches and controls are on the FP24, but particularly in the case of the Limiter adjustment, it does not explain how to use or adjust it in practice?

  If you could shed some light on that it would be great?

  Hi Bob,

  Well they are input limiters, and there’s only one control, so I’d set a level and speak loudly into it while tweeking the adjustments. Or, call Sound Devices and get their advice. They’re nice folks.
