  SD 442 Monitor Question

  Hi All-

  Using my Sound Devices mixer and SD 7-Series recorder, and sending a return back to the mixer (from the recorder), what should the return monitor gain structure be. In other words, should I just use the headphone volume on the recorder to match the return with output and keep the “return a” volume control down, or what. I still get audio from the return even though the volume knob (return a) is all the way down (or off?).
