Hey I’m looking to purchase 2 new wireless setups and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on a good one or ones they prefer. This will be used for broadcast productions. Also I’ve been hearing something about a change coming in 2009 with wireless???? Is this true and if so what should I need to know about it? Thanks.

Hello Jeff and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Wireless mics run from about $600/ch for Audio Technica and Sennheiser to $5k for Audio Ltd..

Lectrosonics has an excellent reputation. Some pros also like Zaxcom.

In the US frequencies will be nuts as of Feb. 19th and no one knows quite how it will shake out.

    Regards,

    Hi Jeff-

Just to add to Ty’s comments regarding the whole 2009 frequency issue: you want to avoid any wireless units that operate on frequencies from 700.000MHz to 767.900MHz. Lectrosonics breaks up the available frequencies into blocks; part of block 27, and all of blocks 28 and 29 fall in these frequency ranges so, if you see any for sale, used or otherwise, I would pass on them.

That being said, I use the Lectrosonics 400 series and highly recommend them.

    Regards,
    Dave
