  making mics water resistant

  I’m going down to the cloud forests of Peru to record a bird nature doc and I’m a little worried about the moisture down there. The mic that I’m worried about is the Sennheiser MKH 70 with a zeppelin and fuzzy…my question is what’s an easy way to make that mic more water resistant?? I’ve heard (though never tried) the condom method, just rolling a condom over it, are there other ways? How does a condom effect the sound? thanks so much for the help!!

  Putting a condom over a shotgun will drastically change its characteristics, and not for the better sonically, although it will be dry.

  Keep it inside the zep. Bring a hair dryer and comb for the hair. Maybe two furries.
