  Pro tools Hard limiting.

  I have an audition background and am now doing Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 I need to be able to do what in audition was called “Hard-Limiting” Basically bringing up the db of the entire file +a certain number of DB’s but force it to go no higher than say -.5db Ideas please?

  Use the built-in Compressor/limiter. Set the ratio up above 50:1 (100:1 is the highest setting but I never use that much – sounds bad), set the attack below 1Ms, and adjust the threshold to the point where the reduction is taking place on almost every peak. Use the gain control to boost the output to peak at around -5db. If the peaks make it above -5, increase the ratio.
