    Hello all,

Right – the situation is as follows…

I have to do post on a film shot on 35mm but ‘accidentally’ shot at 25fps 🙂

A decision was made (not by me) in the early stages of post to convert everything to 24fps. The picture was slowed down in the avid, and the audio (originally recorded on DAT and captured in chunks, not to TC, onto a tools rig) was slowed using digidesign TCE. It was then clap-sync in the avid.

All the editing was then done etc.

I am very concerned about starting to do a dialogue edit on audio that has been timestretched – even if it doesn’t sound too awful now, it will make processing difficult later. Also, looking for alternative takes becomes difficult. And by the time one outputs to DVD it will have been speed-ramped twice!

So I think it would be sensible for me to try to do the sound post at 25fps. The question would be – can this easily be accomplished?

My idea of a workflow would be to convert the avid session to 25fps again (I’m not an avid chap so don’t know how easy this would be), export a Linked OMF, then relink to the original audio.

    Anyone…? Any ideas/comments greatly appreciated 🙂
