  Convert to XLR, an adaptor?

  I, like many others will open this with, “Am I an idiot?”.

  I’m just learning audio, but know its a pivotal part of the process. I have the Canon XL1 and have the MA-100 adaptor. I was wondering if there was something that I can get to convert my onboard cam mic that plugs into the mic plug to an XLR connection? I’ve been using a wireless in the right channel and then using a spare mic connected to the left channel for stereo. I dont like the mic that I’ve been using and am planning on getting new mics soon, but I was wondering if there was some sort of adaptor out there?

  Not worth it.

  The provided mic requires 5 voltd DC to operate.

  You’d need to devise a way to connect the 5v to the mic AND get the audio connections to XLR for recording.

  A specialized adapter-assembly could built for this purpose, but it would be far better to just buy a new and better mic that does not need the 5v.
