I gave a client a DVD of a program edited in FCP with only the video, music & sfx. The returned another DVD with mix of video and mixed audio. I realize I can import it back to FCP and add the mix to the timeline, but question how many times the audio can be compressed and not lose quality. I will, of course need to make another master DVD with narration/music. How many times can or should you compress audio to DVD? Do I need to ask for the audio again as an AIFF or MP3 file?

Even compressing it once causes a loss of quality. How much of a loss each time, or how many times?? Only your ears can tell you what is acceptable. It is ALWAYS best to work from an uncompressed source.

    Have fun!
