  minidisc recording

  I am looking into buying a MiniDisc player/recorder to do some voiceover (off-camera/non-sync).
  I will be sending the device out of state to the voiceover talent, so preferable it would be cheap and with easy-to-use recording functions.

  The cheapest options for MiniDisc seem to have a USB input only.

  What’s the cheapest MiniDisc recorder with a mic input that would be good for this simple purpose?

  Otherwise, is it possible to purchase a USB microphone that will record at 16-bit and is not too expensive?

  OR, perhaps I could use an analog microphone and connect it to a minidisc player with a USB input via this:

  I bought a couple of the iRiver iFP-895 units for backup during wedding ceremonies. So far, I’m not pleased with the audio quality. It is rather tinny and sounds canned. There’s also a discernable buzz. I’m no audio pro and certainly haven’t been able to successfully adjust the recording quality in Audition to make it sound more natural, like my wireless mic.

  I’d like to hear opinions and advice on using the iFP 895 from people who have used them successfully, such as a way to adjust for the lower-quality sound.
