  • Need Help-Rotoscoping the actor (face and clothes)

Posted by Ramon Montes on November 10, 2009 at 11:47 pm

I’ve looked around this website and other websites and I haven’t been able to find specific information on how I can rotoscope an actor. I need to improve the color of his clothes and face because he looks like more black and white rather color.

I read something about Vector Paint, but some of the information didn’t make sense.

Are there any videos that can show me how I can do this? I prefer video over text because it’s much easier to understand.

    I have adobe AE CS3.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

There are some great video tutorials about rotoscoping linked to from this page. I especially recommend the Pete O’Connell videos, which are from the Creative COW rotoscoping DVD.

Thanks. I just looked at Pete’s video and he doesn’t cover what I’m looking for. Everyone talks about animations and adding background, etc…I’m just looking for a video that tells me how to paint clothes and an individual. Most of these videos focus too much on animation. Do you know of any videos or website that only focuses on coloring clothes and pictures (not on photoshop)?

    Thanks.

Dave, I did what you told me and the image did improve, so thank you. However, the white collar is very bright and the black sweater has some white spots and I don’t know how to fix it. How can I improve those two?

Here is a sample of what I’m referring to: https://s912.photobucket.com/albums/ac329/EMVA_photo/

    Thanks,

    Ramon

    Hey Dave,

I have to admit, the lighting is poor.

The video was filmed using a green screen background.

I used keylight, curve, and hue/saturation.

It’s an old camera, Canon XL1.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks
