Ultimate Vegas Machine 2.0
I made a post on this years ago and built the computer. Spec’ed below. However, now I find new challenges h.265 decoding, 4k files, etc. I’m having a hard time finding out what bottlenecks I may have in my hardware as well as what hardware Vegas is optimized on (or various plug-ins & extensions are optimized on).
Somethings I’ve always been curious about:
Dual GPU support? Can Vegas (or any of the effects) make use of two GPU(s)? I built my system with that in mind but never got a straight answer if a second graphics card would make a difference other than having one to run monitor and other devoted to rendering.
What exactly makes vegas run better? is there any decent bencharmk software? The latest vegas installed with a little program for PC health or something to that effect. I quickly got rid of it, it kept displaying popups. I’d seriously like to know what hardware makes this software work better though, other than blindly upgrading to next level of hardware which costs thousands of dollars.
Anybody have different builds that work well for them?
Here’s my build:
*CPU: Intel i7-5930k 3.5GHz 6 core Haswell-E Core LGA 2011-v3 socket
MAINBOARD: ASRock FATAL1TY Intel X99 chipset
GRAPHICS: Radeon RX 480 8GB
MAIN STORAGE / OS DISK: Samsun 950 PRO m.2 PCIe NVM
RAM: 4 sticks of G.SKILL 16GB DDR4 2133 / PC4 1700 for total of 64 GB RAM*Was told Haswell-E architecture doesn’t support bandwidth throttling on PCI-e bus like newer chip sets which sometimes crashes NLE software
Miscellaneous –
COOLING: Deep-cool Captain 240EX 240mm liquid cooling
CASE: Corsair Carbide Series Air 240 CC-9011070 (awesome case hands down)
MONITOR: LG 31MU97-B / IPS 4K 10bit display (regret I didn’t buy 2 of these)
OS: Windows 10 Ultimate
Vegas: Vegas Pro 17————————————–
