multicam video follow audio script – auto cut to whomever is speaking
I am looking for a script that will “take” whichever video file has the loudest audio. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. We are working with 100s of hours of footage.
2 video files; 1 static tight shot on a podium and 1 static wide shot of an entire stage. Podium mic goes to podium video file and all other mics go to the wide video file. When anyone talks besides the person at the podium I want to take the wide shot..
Some live switchers and teleconferencing camera control hardware does this in real time. It switches to whoever is talking -“video-follow-audio” . I want to do the same in post.

Hi Steven! Let me understand this, for me, you wish the Video to dictate/select an alternative Audio Stream? Yes? So Video, using a Script, automatically triggers the “other” Audio?
Have I got this correct?

Graham Bernard, Thanks for asking. Practically speaking, I want the camera shot that shows the person who is currently talking into the mic.
When the person at the podium is talking then switch to the tight shot. When someone at the table or in the audience is talking switch to the wide shot.
I figured at the very least I could record the podium mic to the tight shot and the table mics to the wide shot so I would have a visual reference in the timeline telling me where to scrub to in order to cut. Then I thought maybe there is a scripting workflow or someone who I could hire to write a script that would compare audio levels between tracks and cut to the video track with the loudest audio. It would have to have some adjustments for timing and such so that the cut didn’t occur on every little clap, cough, or sneeze.

Technically, a script cannot see audio levels direct from Vegas.
