    Hello,

    I’m trying to capture video from my canon xha1, but for some reason Vegas is ‘dropping frames’ (I’m not sure this is what is happening, but the footage breaks every minute or so when captured). My laptop has a great deal of ram so I don’t think performance is an issue.

    Do you know what might be causing this? Alternatively is there any software that I could download and use specifically for stable capturing? Thanks

    Hi James

    Are you sure that it’s Vegas dropping the frames and not the actual camcorder ?

    Here are few questions for you;

    1- Are you recording on tape or a frame store device (hvr-mrc1, Firestore, etc…) ?

    2- Are you feeding from the frame store device via IEEE or are you transferring via CF card?

    3- If on tape, are you playing back directly from the camera or do you have a separate player ? Are you keeping track of how many passes have been made on your tapes ?

    4- How often do you clean your heads on your camera ? Do you use a cleaning tape or do you do it manually ?

    5- Are you using the built-in Vegas capture utility or something else ?

    Cheers !
